MEDIA ALERT: Public inquiry into allegations concerning former MP Daryl Maguire starts Monday

The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption’s (ICAC) Operation Keppel public inquiry into allegations concerning the former NSW Member of Parliament for Wagga Wagga, Mr Daryl Maguire, will start next Monday, 21 September 2020 at 10:00 am.
The Commission is investigating allegations that, from 2012 to August 2018, Mr Maguire engaged in conduct that involved a breach of public trust by using his public office, involving his duties as a member of the NSW Parliament, and the use of parliamentary resources, to improperly gain a benefit for himself and/or entities close to him. These entities included G8wayinternational/G8wayinternational Pty Ltd and associated persons.
The Commission will hold the inquiry in accordance with COVID-19 NSW public health orders, with social distancing and hygiene measures in place. Due to limited space, the Commission’s premises will remain closed to members of the media and the public. However, a pool camera and sound operator will be permitted to film and record the opening address.
The Commission will also live stream the proceedings via its website www.icac.nsw.gov.au, and will post exhibits (provided they are not subject to non-publication orders), daily transcripts and witness lists. Updates will also be provided via the ICAC Twitter account (@nswicac).
Assistant Commissioner the Hon Ruth McColl AO SC will preside at the inquiry. Counsel Assisting the Commission will be Mr Scott Robertson and Mr Alex Brown.
