Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) outreach

In NSW the offer of a gift or bribe to influence the decision of a public official is considered to be corrupt. Public officials are required to report any such offers. The ICAC takes these reports very seriously. Individuals who have offered bribes have appeared before ICAC public inquiries and also been jailed.

The ICAC research and experience has indicated that recently arrived migrants with limited English literacy may be more likely to make such offers. The ICAC is keen to help educate the community so that this conduct is prevented.

The ICAC can provide speakers to address community groups on this topic.
