National Investigations Symposium
The 13th National Investigations Symposium was conducted on 24 and 25 May 2023 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney. The symposium was attended by over 575 delegates from more than 180 organisations. Delegates comprised all tiers of the Australian public sector, NGOs and private providers. Interactive workshops on investigative approaches and welfare concerns were held on 23 May 2023. The six workshops attracted over 145 participants.
The two-day symposium program comprised plenary sessions with keynote speakers, and three concurrent streams covering a range of topics comprising: workplace and disciplinary investigations; complaint handling; forensic accounting and technology; investigations involving abuse and neglect; challenging investigations; psychological welfare of parties to investigations; international perspectives; public interest disclosures; investigating automated decision-making; and approaches for interviewing children and people experiencing vulnerability.
