MEDIA ALERT: Former Mine Subsidence Board manager to give evidence when ICAC public inquiry resumes Tuesday

The former Mine Subsidence Board Picton office district manager at the centre of corruption allegations under investigation by the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) will give evidence when the Commission's Operation Tunic public inquiry continues next Tuesday.

The Commission is investigating allegations that Darren Bullock received, or may have received, corrupt payments or other benefits as an inducement or reward for showing favourable treatment to building contractor Kevin Inskip of Plantac Pty Ltd. Mr Bullock's wife will also give evidence next week.

Transcripts from the public inquiry, including the 30 March 2015 opening address which notes that it is likely evidence during the course of the inquiry would show Mr Bullock received in excess of $300,000 from Plantac from around 2008 to 2014, can be accessed from the ICAC website.

The ICAC is also investigating allegations that Mr Bullock revealed confidential MSB tender information to Plantac Pty Ltd, and breached MSB financial delegations, policies and/or procedures relating to the awarding of contracts and the making of payments to that company.

It is also examining allegations that Mr Bullock received, or may have received, corrupt payments or other benefits as an inducement or reward for showing favourable treatment to William Kendall of Willbuilt Homes Pty Ltd. It is also examining allegations that Mr Bullock revealed confidential MSB tender information to William Kendall of Willbuilt Homes Pty Ltd.

Further, the inquiry will examine whether the systems, policies and procedures of the MSB were, and are, adequate to prevent or minimise corrupt behaviour of the kind referred to in the allegations described above, or should be changed to reduce the likelihood of corrupt conduct occurring in the future.

ICAC Commissioner the Hon Megan Latham is presiding at the public inquiry, and Counsel Assisting the Commission is Mr Andrew Naylor. The inquiry is expected to conclude next week. A witness list for next week is attached. Please note that this list is subject to change.
