Anonymous reports

Anonymous reports are accepted but often their usefulness is limited. If a matter is significant, the ICAC often seeks additional information to advance its enquiries. The inability to contact the reporter makes this process more difficult.

Also, it is not possible to extend the protection against defamation if the ICAC has no record of an individual lodging a report.

Nevertheless, anonymous reports certainly help, particularly with trend analysis.
