Corruption Matters - December 2020 | Issue 56

ICAC workshops and presentations move online

For many years, ICAC education has been provided face-to-face both in Sydney and around the state. But, with the COVID-19 pandemic, a way needed to be found to provide quality corruption prevention education to NSW public officials in a COVID-safe way.

To continue providing this well-regarded and in-demand service safely, a platform suited to delivering interactive workshops online was found. Training materials and teaching methods were then modified to suit online delivery.

The workshops were designed to be interactive and include online pre-reading activities, polls, videos and small-group discussions and collaborative activities.

The result has been the successful transition from face-to-face to online delivery, with approximately 50 workshops and 26 presentations conducted since April 2020.

Workshop evaluations show that the online offerings compare well to the ICAC’s face-to-face training. The feedback has included:

“Excellent workshop.”

“This session was a great example of how online content can be delivered well, and in an interactive way.”

“The presenter was excellent. He was engaging, knowledgeable and facilitated participation well ... I would recommend this training to others in my organisation.”

“The online format was excellent and should be continued.”
