MEDIA ALERT - ICAC public inquiry to examine alleged fraud up to $1.5m concerning Bathurst and Yass Valley Councils

The Independent Commission Against Corruption's (ICAC) public inquiry into corruption allegations involving employees of 110 NSW state and local council authorities will commence its segment into alleged fraud involving Bathurst Regional Council and Yass Valley Council from 11 am on Monday, 17 October 2011.

This segment of the inquiry will examine allegations that former Bathurst Regional Council Senior Storeman, Geoffrey Hadley, and former Yass Valley Council Storeman, Kerry Smith, facilitated payment of fraudulent invoices totalling up to $1.5 million.

The ICAC Commissioner, the Hon David Ipp AO QC, will continue to preside at the inquiry which is expected to conclude next week.
