Operation Sonet public notice
Monday 27 July 2015
The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is conducting an
investigation into corruption allegations concerning Ronald Cordoba, Acting
Manager TAFE ICT Services for the Department of Education TAFE South West Sydney
Institute (SWSI). The Commission is investigating allegations that:
- between January 2014 and July 2014, Mr Cordoba dishonestly exercised his
public official duties to obtain a financial advantage of more than $1.7 million
for himself from SWSI by authorising false purchase orders, supplying false
invoices to SWSI and dishonestly authorising payment of those invoices to his
own business, Storm Solutions
- between November 2013 and March 2014, Mr Cordoba secured a payment of
$55,000 from an SWSI IT contractor, by falsely claiming that he had been
authorised by SWSI to undertake work as a IT subcontractor on behalf of the SWSI
contractor.
As part of its investigation, the ICAC will hold a public inquiry starting at
10:00 am on Monday 17 August 2015 at Level 7, 255 Elizabeth Street, Sydney.
Persons claiming to be substantially and directly interested in this matter
may seek leave to be represented at the inquiry, and are invited to contact Mr
Nicholas Marney on (02) 8281-5999 to advise of their interest.
Members of the public with information relevant to the investigation are
encouraged to provide it in writing at GPO Box 500, Sydney, NSW 2001, or by

has legislative powers to protect people who provide information to the
Commission.
