Blowing the whistle

Providing information about alleged corrupt conduct is commonly known as "blowing the whistle".

In NSW, a public official who reports “serious wrongdoing” in good faith to the ICAC is protected by law from reprisal by way of “detrimental action”.

Please note that the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 ("the PID Act") applies to PIDs made from 1 October 2023 onwards. The Public Interest Disclosures Act 1994 applies to PIDS made before 1 October 2023.
