Update to schedule for ICAC public inquiry concerning mining exploration licences and other matters
Monday 17 September 2012
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) advises that there are some amendments to the schedule for the upcoming public inquiry concerning Operations Jasper, Acacia and Indus as follows.
Counsel assisting the Commission's opening address for Operation Jasper will take place on Thursday 1 November 2012, as will the opening address for Operation Indus, starting from 10:00 am. The order for this is yet to be confirmed. It is not intended to take evidence on 1 November.
Evidence relating to Operation Indus will be led from Friday 2 November 2012 and will continue until completed, but is expected to take approximately five days. Once the Operation Indus inquiry is completed, evidence will be led in Operation Jasper. This is likely to continue until March 2013, although it is intended to adjourn the proceedings on Friday 14 December 2012 and recommence on Monday 4 February 2013.
Counsel assisting the Commission will make an opening address in Operation Acacia on Monday 18 March 2013. Evidence relating to Operation Acacia will be led thereafter.
Please note that this schedule is subject to further amendment and media will be advised should that occur.
